OFFENSE

After two successful seasons of taking the Bulldogs to the Class 2A playoffs, Scott Pratt moved on to Idabel and Chuck Taylor takes over the reins at Valliant this season. The new head coach will have his work cut out for him as the Bulldogs have just a handful of returning starters this season. Among those will be Marcus Jordan (6-2, 205, Jr.), who will move from running back to quarterback this season. Brady Payne (5-11, 90, Sr.) takes on the running back duties. Valliant does return a solid nucleus in the offensive line, with veterans Hunter Smith (6-2, 245, Sr.) and Teryn Endsley (6-0, 255, Sr.) opening the gaps and pass protecting while providing some crucial leadership for the offensive unit. Braylon McKeever (6-1, 175, Jr.) will be the main go-to wide receiver in Taylor’s spread offense. One big plus for the Bulldogs will be this year’s schedule that features six home games, including three of the first four.

DEFENSE

The same handful of names will be called on to provide defense for the Bulldogs as well, with Smith and Endsley holding down the fort in the line and Jordan and Payne behind them at linebacker along with Cody Rivers (5-11, 175, Sr.). Obviously the big task for Taylor and his coaching staff during the days leading up to the season opener will be to identify some depth and find the guys who will fill out the rest of the Bulldogs’ starting lineup. “On offense we look to bring an exciting and explosive attack with multiple threats, while defensively we will be ballhawks that are great tacklers while creating momentum for the offense by creating turnovers,” Taylor said. I’m excited about the direction we are heading. I want the kids and staff to bring energy and focus every day but yet make the game fun.”
